The XPress Card Plus is the new electronic version of our old Express Card which allows you to cross the B&M Bridge 24 hours a day/7days a week.
Here’s How It Works:
The Xpress Card Plus is used to pay bridge tolls at any toll booth at the B&M Bridge (North or South bound). Just hold the Xpress Card Plus in front of the RFID reader; the reader will identify the card and check the current balance. It will also give you a 10% discount and permit you to pass through.
The “old” Express Cards will be honored until July 1, 2008. When you purchase the new electronic Xpress Card Plus, you can get credit for the unused portion of the “old” Express Card, which can be transferred to the Xpress Card Plus before January 1, 2009.

Lost or damaged Xpress Card Plus cards can be replaced for $3.00 and, if possible, any remaining balance will be transferred to the newly purchased card. Account balances can be easily checked. The card can be replenished with a minimum $10 cash deposit into your account, at any toll booth or by check at the B&M Bridge office. Q. What is the Xpress Card Plus?
A. It is the new electronic version of the bridge toll Express Card which allows you to cross the B & M Bridge 24 hours a day/7days a week.
Q. How does it work?
A. The Xpress Card Plus is used to pay bridge tolls at any toll booth at the B & M Bridge (Northbound or Southbound). All you have to do is hold the Xpress Card Plus (HID proximity card) in front of the RFID reader; the reader will identify the card and check the current balance; discount the appropriate toll at a 10% discount and permit you to pass through the lane. Upon request, any toll collector can provide you with a receipt and your balance after the toll is charged.
Q. What will happen to the “old” Express Cards?
A. The “old” Express Cards will no longer be sold after May 06, 2008. Any “old” Express cards will be honored until July 1, 2008. Beginning May 20, 2008 you may purchase the new electronic Xpress Card Plus and transfer any remaining value on the ”old” Express Card to the new Xpress Card Plus. All “old” Express Cards will expire on July 2, 2008 and will no longer be honored for payment of tolls at the B & M Bridge.
Q. What is the benefit in buying the Xpress Card Plus?
A. You will save 10% on all B & M bridge tolls; you can use the Xpress Card Plus in any direction (Northbound or Southbound) and you can use our fully automated ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) Lane Southbound.
Q. How the Xpress Card Plus can be obtained?
A. You can buy it starting May 20, 2008 at any toll booth or at the B & M Bridge Company Office for a one time fee of $3.00 and with an initial deposit of $20.00 or more (U.S. currency only).
Q. Can the Xpress Card Plus be purchased or replenished with Mexican Pesos?
A. No, sorry, only U.S. dollars may be used to purchase or replenish the Xpress Card Plus.
Q. How will I know what is my current account balance?
A. There are only two ways you can get your account balance:
- You can ask the toll collector for a receipt showing the balance, or
- The electronic sign in front of each toll booth will alert you when you have a balance below $10.00 and show LOW BALANCE.
Q. How can the Xpress Card Plus be replenished?
A. It can be replenished with cash $20 or more (U.S. currency only) at any toll booth or with a check only at the B & M Bridge Office.
Q. What if the Xpress Card Plus gets damaged?
A. You may buy a new one for $3.00. If the damaged card account number can be read and has a balance, it can be transferred to the newly purchased Xpress Card Plus.
Q. What if I lose the Xpress Card Plus?
A. You may buy a new one for $3.00 plus an initial deposit of $20.00 or more.
Q. How many Xpress Card Plus cards can I buy?
A. You may purchase as many as you need. Consider buying one card per each driver in your family or business.
Q. What if I am towing an extra car or trailer?
A. The collector will take your card and charge your vehicle and the extra axle(s). In these situations, you will not be able to use the fully automated ETC Lane Southbound.
